The MET Gala 2021: Some of My Favorite Looks on the Red Carpet

The MET Gala's Back and These Fashion Royals Conquered The Red Carpet and Made it Their Runway!

Here's a recap of some of the best-dressed celebs as they graced the entrance of The MET Gala

The Met Gala has returned after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, and I'm so glad that the Gala is back in action! I love watching The Met Gala live and being able to see all my favorite celebs looking fabulous on the red carpet in different designer's evening wear. The theme for The Met Gala this year was "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion" This exhibition was the first half of the two-part exhibit. The theme for the second half is "Explore American Fashion," focusing on sportswear and contemporary designers according to a press release on Page Six Style back in April. Each celeb showed up dripped in designer's elegant evening wear, and their take on the representation of American fashion through their unique, elaborate, and creative looks. Many celebs wore different variations of red, white, and blue to match the Gala's theme, and some of them thought outside the box and wore different silhouette shapes, colors, and fabrics that were unique and outside of the box.

Here's a recap of some of the best looks from The Met Gala:

Barbie looked stunning in this off-the-shoulder beaded Area gown. She graced the entrance of the gala and looked like a goddess. I was blown away by this gown. The beading trimmed around the bodice of the corset, mixed with glitter was stunning.

2. Iman

Iman served in this Harris Reed jumpsuit. This photo needs to be showcased in the Met because this jumpsuit is beautiful. Iman looks radiant in this gold jumpsuit. Harris Reed did a great job with the gold accents on the feathers, and I love how the feathered bustle has a transparent look to it as well. Let's not forget the beautiful feathered headpiece to match the bustle. This was by far one of my favorite looks of the night.

This Dreamgirl Jennifer Hudson made the entrance of the Met her runway in this beautiful red AZ Factory gown. The satin shall plus satin finish at the bottom of the dress took, this look to another level and made it more dramatic with the shall drop off her shoulders as the train swept the floor in a fairytale-like manner.

4. JLO

JLO wasn’t afraid to show a little skin in this glam steampunk Ralph Lauren Gown, styled by Rob Zangardi. The plunging neckline and split on the side of the gown paired with a black fedora, fur coat, chocker, a silver necklace, and belt made this glam steampunk look turned heads. All eyes were on Jlo because she always owns the red carpet.

All hail the queen! This look's inspired by Josephine Baker and styled by Jason Bolden. Yara Shahidi looked beautiful in this stunning Dior gown. The accessories such as the beaded headband, rose gold belt, silver necklace, gloves with a glitter finish, and let's not forget the beige train attached to the back of the dress.

The Golden Boy, Lil Nas X always wows the crowd with his elaborate outfits on the red carpet, but last night he outdid himself because he pulled up to the Met Gala in not 1, but 3 outfits. Each outfit Lil Nas wore, was dripped in gold Versace from the studded pants suit to the gold Cape. Lil Nas X understood the assignment and looked like a king/Knight at the same time.

Serena showed out in a Gucci feather ombré pink, white, and black-feathered cape with a train. Paired with silver lace pants suit with hot pink stars in it. Serena grabbed everyone's attention in this look styled by Kesha

This couple looked dashing in their Versace outfits, styled by Jason Bolden. Stephen wore a custom Atelier Versace Navy blue suit with gold finishes and gold applique on the shoulder. Ayesha is wearing beaded silver and gold-trimmed Atelier Versace gown. The corset bodice and slit elevated the look.

Gabriella Union slayed in this unique mermaid/bubble queen Thomas Christos gown styled by Rasaan Wyzard. This dress was constructed beautifully with over 10,000 circles, according to Thomas Christos. The main inspiration for this look was change: both Thomas and Gabrielle delivered. The detailing of this dress is incredible, and the sleeve off the shoulder and circles forming a heart shape behind her back almost look like clouds. This look is one for the books.

Megan Fox set the red carpet ablaze in this stunning long-sleeved lace-up studded Dundas gown, styled by Maeve Reilly The cutouts on the top and side of the dress with the slit give this look a sensual edge.

Storm graced the red carpet wearing a three-piece pink, black, and burgundy Prada shorts set. What took this look to the next level were the accessories, and my favorite, the extravagant pink ruffled bustle trailing down the floor and wrapped around the waist in a beautiful bow. This look styled by Jason Bolden was vibrant, youthful, and fun.

Precious Lee wore a beautiful studded suit dress by Area. The braided fringes at the bottom of the dress give off an edgy but chic look, styled by Tiffani.

This dress is fit for a queen. Normani looked gorgeous in this beautiful yellow Valentino ball gown. The low-cut neckline and exaggerated puffy structure around the shoulders of the dress are the perfect looks for the Met Gala.

Marilyn Monroe is that you? I had to do a double-take because Billie looked absolutely stunning in this Oscar de la Renta cream off-the-shoulder gown. The dress is inspired by Holiday Barbie.

Llana was one of the amazing hostesses of the Met Gala. She's wearing a cameo feathered long-sleeved with the cut-out back Aliette gown paired with a gold clutch. This dress was glamorous, and I loved how the feathered sleeves elevated this look.

Amanda Gorman shined on the red carpet in this flowy blue custom-made Vera Wang dress embellished with sparkles, and a glittering headpiece. This dress was perfect for the theme of the gala.

The R&B icon Mary J Blige grabbed the audience's attention in his stunning gold Dundas dress, styled by Jason Rembert. Mary J Blige showed up and showed out in this golden gown. I loved the details of the dress. It's the glitter for me!

Rosalia wore an elaborate red Rick Owens gown, and a beautiful long shawl trimmed with fringes wrapped around her. The matching red satin gloves and thigh-high boots gave this elegant look an edge.

Rita Ora set the red carpet on fire wearing this beautiful beaded Prada skirt set with a black shall falling off her shoulders. Rita's outfit was styled by Jason Rembert

Ciara's gown was inspired by her husband's jersey number, 3. She wore a gorgeous green Dundas sparkle cut-out jersey gown with a sparkled silver #3. This elegant and fun look was styled by Rob Zangardi.

Date night at the met Gala. This couple wore Ralph Lauren outfits on the red carpet, styled by Law Roach. Chance's black, white, and red blazer inspired by Chicago, and we can't forget his signature #3 hat. Kirsten wore a sleek black Ralph Lauren gown.

Sister, Sister. These lovely ladies wore Rodarte outfits. Halle's looks pretty in a pink metallic bodysuit inspired by Tina Turner. Chloe, have mercy! This all-white satin gown was inspired by Hollywood Sirens.

Icy Girl Sawettie strutted on the red carpet wearing a beautiful cutout sequenced Christian Cowan dress with the African American and Philippine flags on the back to represent her heritage.

I know a few celebs had a hard time keeping up with this Kardashian in the style department. Kendall's decked in this see-through studded Givenchy gown with the matching choker.

Keke, do you love me? Keke slayed the red carpet in this glamorous Sergio Hudson glitter gown, styled by Seth Chernoff. Keke not only looked great on the red carpet, but she was one of the great hostesses for the Gala. Not bad for your first time at the Met Gala Keke!

Teyana Taylor looked like a fabulous gladiator Queen wearing a metallic Prabal Gurung silver cutout dress, paired with sequenced trimming in her hair. The long train gave this look a dramatic touch.

Cookie Lyon has taken over the red carpet! Taraji wore a beautiful black glitter Moschino pants suit off the shoulder with silver glitter trimmings, styled by Jason Bolden

Uh oh, Cinderella has escaped from her evil Step Mother's claws and has attended another ball, but this time in the big apple. Camila and her prince Shawn Mendes are both decked out in Michael Kors outfits. Camila wore a sparkly purple top with a matching wrap skirt with feathers at the bottom, and Shawn Mendes looks like a rockstar in this leather suit styled by Rob Zangardi.

Regina King didn't come to play in this dress. She graced the red carpet in this beautiful pin-striped Michael Kors dress and the matching jacket with the gold sequenced lining peeking through the inside, making the outfit pop.

30. Grimes

Grimes looked out of this world! She was ready to fight some bad guys on the red carpet, with her sword in hand. This Galatic Warrior Princess wore a beautiful futuristic and flowy ombre Iris Van Herpen gown. This gown is paired with a metal mask and inspired by the new movie Dune.

Olivia not only won Prom Queen, but she attend her first Met Gala! She graced the red carpet wearing a black feathered and see-through Yves Saint Laurent pantsuit, styled by Chloe and Chenelle

Allyson looked stunning on the red carpet wearing a white keyhole cut feathered Fendi couture gown; styled by Jason Bolden. This look was one of my favorites on the red carpet.

Overall, everyone looked beautiful in their evening wear, and they definitely turned many of the reporter's heads. We'll have to wait until Part 2 of the Met Gala in May. You can catch a video recap of the Met Gala below, and let me know what your favorite looks were in the comments section.
